most of anne black’s porcelain is made in bat trang, a ceramic village in northern vietnam, in a workshop anne co-founded in 2005 and has worked with ever since. it is built entirely around her own designs and crafting approach — an extension of the methods she uses in her copenhagen studio. from 2005 to 2011 the collaboration was supported by danida, the danish development organisation.

the team is trained in anne’s own methods, so the work stays true to her studio — often hand thrown, the same craft, in another place.

the workshop carries a ceramic tradition spanning eight generations. at its centre is mrs hang, the ninth generation of her family to work with ceramics.
